Throughout his career Neil has toured and recorded with artists such as Del Shannon, Archie Bell and the Drells, Percy Sledge, The Chi-Lites, Peter Cox (Go West), Mark Shaw (Then Jericho) Steve Norman (Spandau Ballet) and has been a session musician on many television and radio broadcasts. Neil was also a member of the world famous Jimmy Barnes Band and can be heard on the albums ‘Psyclone’ and ‘The Best of Jimmy Barnes’ and also on the single ‘Change Of Heart’.  Whilst a member of the band Neil performed around the world to audiences of up to 110,000 people.

 

Throughout his career Neil has studied with such teachers as the great ‘Drumming Global Ambassador’ Dom Famularo, Ed Soph, Andy Leask, Bob Armstrong and Jim Chapin.

 

Neil has lectured and performed drum clinics and seminars around the U.K. and Australia and maintains a busy private teaching schedule teaching students of all levels at his purpose built studio in Hertfordshire. 

Neil is also a faculty member at the Institute of Contemporary Music Performance in London.

The Studio is situated in Chiswick in Power Road, 2 min walk from Gunnersbury Station (District line).

Music & Experience:

Born in Sardinia (Italy) in 1979, I started playing drums at the age of 12.  I studied at the Birdland Music School with great musicians such as Fabrizio Sferra, Massimo Moriconi and Danilo Rea. In 1999, I went to the University of Music in Rome and graduated in 2001. During the 2003 Umbria Jazz Berklee summer course, I had the opportunity to learn from well-known Berklee College teachers and attended master classes of wonderful artists including Bobby McFerrin and Elvin Jones. The same year, I won a scholarship to enter the Berklee College of Music. Since 1995, I have been collaborating with many musicians in various pop, rock, funk and jazz projects in Sardinia and Italy. I played for the "Orchestra Jazz della Sardegna" in 1998 and played with Umberto Smaila in Egypt in 2004. My trio Jellyfish and I have also had the chance to play with the fantastic Italian saxophone player Tino Tracanna and the Canadian singer Rita di Ghent. I am a recording session drummer in Sardinia and I have been working in studios for different bands like Tazenda, Bertas or Cento. I am also an experienced teacher and have been providing lessons at all levels both privately and in schools since 2003. I spent the year 2008 in London to achieve a Master Performance at the Drumtech and received the Trinity Guildhall ATCM Performance Diploma.

I am a fully qualified teacher and professional drummer with 25 years experience.

I studied the Dante Agostini method with my first drum teacher in France and then moved to london to study at drumtech college.

I have a diploma in higher education of popular music performance for Thames Valley University and have also studied privately with master teacher Bob Armstrong for 6 years.

I teach both Moeller and Gladstone techniques, matched and traditional grip.

All styles of drumming are covered.

I always design my lessons according to each pupils needs and abilities.

Beginners are welcome.

The studio is fully equiped and designed so pupils can play along backing tracks or songs and have their performance recorded and mixed like in a pro studio environement.

I am an active drummer currently playing all over the UK supporting major signed artists (as well as still playing the odd pub gig to an audience of 5!!).

I offer home and studio lessons available in the Petersfield and Guildford area

My courses cover a range of material covering all contemporary music styles. 

I don't believe a one size fits all approach works for teaching a musical instrument. Each lesson is customised to the student’s strengths, weaknesses and goals. 

If you're just starting the drums I have developed a course to take you through the basics of rock and pop drumming. 

For intermediate players looking for new directions and inspiration I have developed a course exploring more complex ideas. The course covers a broad range of styles including Indie, Trip Hop and Nu metal. 

Students have the option of studying graded material and entering examinations with Rockschool or Trinity Guildhall. 

Each lesson has an element of technique, vocabulary and application. This system is my own way of teaching and is recommended as a practice routine for all of the material.
