I am an enthusiastic pop/rock drummer with a great visual style and stage presence, having taught privately and at a school over the past 5 years.
I have 20 years playing experience in bands, with recording, TV, radio, gigging, tours and festival experience under my belt.
My aim is to impart what I've learnt to drummers of any level who want to play solid pop/rock drums in a band context, in a dynamic way, playing for the song rather than showing off !
I have plenty of click track and studio experience and a couple of music video appearances.
I can advise on the best ways to prepare for gigs, particularly on professional attitude,set-ups, and time-saving when playing in London at tiny venues!
I do recommend wearing ear protection, sadly having been too clever to wear it in my twenties.
I will travel around the Bath, Trowbridge,North Wilts areas if you prefer me to visit. My hourly rate is £20.
I am CRB checked also.
I prefer the sound of larger drums of a 70's or 80's vintage and am a Zildjian-man.

Drum tuition for all ages & levels.
James has been playing drumset since 1986. Since that time, he has been
lucky enough to play a huge diversity of styles, from acid jazz to pub rock,
soul to grunge, and much more. James has played countless gigs all over the
singer-songwriter Nicky Swann. He has also written articles on motivation
and practice for Modern Drummer, the world's most widely read drum magazine.
Having received tuition from various great tutors, James is only too aware
of the influence a good tutor can have. Among the drummers he's studied with
are Steve White, Gregg Bissonette & Neal Wilkinson. In 2003 he studied with
qualification, and as such is a professional trainer. This experience has
proved invaluable in training and tuition, especially with regard to modular
learning and motivation, key aspects in drum tuition.
James prefers Sonor & Slingerland acoustic drums, Zildjian cymbals &
Aquarian heads. He is currently a resident tutor at Rock Solid in Totnes,

I've been teaching drums for 15 years now. My lessons are fun and informal-
after all, while you want to learn the theory behind drumming, you're also
here to enjoy yourself! I mainly travel to my pupils' homes (although I can
also deliver lessons in my own home) and cover the
that matters is you want to learn how to play! Just drop me a line if you
have any questions or would like more information on my lessons.

From the age of 10 my life has revolved around music and playing the drum
kit. Whilst in school, I had lessons which involved the City & Guilds root
which I found was quite a military approach to playing the drums, and always
thought "there must be more to the drum kit than this". From there I played
in several bands in school. After fighting my way through the perks of
growing up I soon stopped the lessons, but my drumming interest did not stop
there. From leaving school my musical ambitions have been to join as many
bands as possible and play with as many did'nt musicians as I could find. I
believe this is the best way to learn an instrument. From the age of approx
23-27 I had advanced drum lessons through the drumsense network. I found
this a very practical and interesting way of learning the drums and learnt
more about drums than I ever thought I would thanks to David Cox -
Drumsense. I loved this teaching experience so much, I established a need to
show and share what I have experienced. I now teach drums myself, which I
really enjoy, and have a growing number of students. As part of my ongoing
interest in music I also write my on material which includes new drum beats
I come up with, and is aimed at my students.

I have been playing drums for around twenty years and have extensive experience in performing and recording drums. I have previously studied under Paul Brodie (ex BBC Big Band) and have a BTEC National Diploma in Music.
I will develop the lesson around the student, whether studying towards the syllabus of a grade (Guildhall/Rockschool), band oriented playing, or theory and reading.
No matter what the direction of the lesson is, I will stress the importance of getting the technique, and the rudiments right from the start.
Please call for an informal chat to discuss your needs.

He started playing the drums at the age of 5 after being inspired by a 45 record of Cozy Powell which he played over & over again. By the age of 9 he had joined his first brass band in the Forest of Dean, this was the first of three bands that Steve played with, the most prestigious being the Flowers Band where he has been principal percussionist for many years.
Performing in brass ensembles from an early age has given Steve experience in playing various styles of music and also the opportunity to perform at many prestigious venues such as London's Royal Albert Hall and Symphony Hall in Birmingham to name but a few. Steve has played in many countries throughout the world including, Thailand, USA, France, Belgium, Holland and Australia.
He has performed with many rock bands, jazz bands and orchestras and recorded countless times for the BBC. In 2000, he provided his percussion expertise for electronica duo 'Goldfrapp' on their Mercury Music Prize nominated debut album 'Felt Mountain'.
Steve has been teaching drums and percussion for over fifteen years and tutoring for the Gloucestershire and Worcestershire Music Services since 2004. He covers all aspects of drumming from the gripping of the sticks to the reading of music and much more and is equipped with quality equipment in a purpose built practice room in Gloucester.
