Steve is a respected drummer and teacher of considerable experience. Currently based in Caerphilly, he is the man behind the beat of the famous Cory Band from the Rhondda. 
He started his playing career in 1984 playing with his local brass band Bream Silver and has over the years steadily built up a reputation as one of the finest kit players around. 
 
Steve started teaching drums and percussion with local education authorities in 2004, working for both Gloucestershire Music Service and Worcestershire Youth Music where he also become percussion tutor for Worcestershire Youth Brass Band. Also in that year he stepped in to help tutor with the National Youth Brass Band Of Great Britain. 
He is currently kit tutor for the Bolsover International Brass Band Summer School, held every year in Derbyshire. 
 
In his career with Cory Band, Steve has toured and recorded extensively at both home and abroad, including tours to Australia, the USA, Norway, Germany and Lithuania to name but a few. In 2016 and 2019 he was part of the team at Cory that completed a historic two time ‘grand slam’ of titles by claiming the European, British Open, UK National and Brass In Concert titles all in one calendar year (the only band in history to do so).
