My name is Mikey Ciancio and I live in Leighton Buzzard in Bedfordshire. I have been playing drums for about 8 years. Right from the very beginning, Damian Fisher has been my drumming teacher. He is a fantastic drummer and teacher and a great influence to me. Other great drummers that influence me are Tony Royster Jr, Jojo Mayer and Vinnie Colaiuta. One of my favourite things about drumming is learning how to play many different styles, which helps me to constantly improve. African-based music is my favourite diverse style to learn at the moment. Learning other styles has also given me a very broad taste in music. I use a Roland electric kit for practice and teaching in my studio in Leighton Buzzard, and a Mapex M Birch kit for gigging.
I passed my Grade 8 in drumming when I was 15 and I am now working on my Diploma. I play in various bands as I am a session drummer but my main band is called “Ego Trip”. We released our first EP earlier this year which is available on ITunes. I teach on a one-to-one basis, either half-hour or hour sessions. My students are of all ages, from 5 to 55, I cater for all needs.
