Barney started playing the drums aged 12 under the guidance of ex BBC percussionist John Cave. His passion for music fuelled his desire to pursue a career in music and in 2004, he graduated from Bournemouth University with a BA(Hons) Degree in Music Design. Since graduating, Barney has performed all over the U.K. with many artists covering a variety of genres from Pop to Musicals including: Bugsy Malone, West Side Story, Cabaret, Guys and Dolls, Les Miserables and Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Barney has supported artists such Roy Ayers, The Yardbirds, Ruby Turner and Paddy Milner as well as performing with Robbie McIntosh, Ben Waters, Steve Wilson and Andy Grant.
Current projects include: Mouse Deer, Nick Capaldi, The Lo Numbers, Shooter, Hustle,Tom Caulfield and The Mark Storey Band.
As well as performing, Barney also holds various teaching posts across West Dorset with over 30 students on his books.
