About Stephen Coetzee

Stephen began his journey with the drum set at the age of 11, receiving lessons from one of Scotland’s most highly regarded session drummers, Tom Annan. Within just 8 months of the lessons, Stephen began playing live with his first band – he held that gig for 6 years!

In 2013, he joined indie-blues group GT’s Boos Band who were featured on BBC4 UK’s Best Part-Time Band hosted by Rhod Gilbert and Midge Ure in 2016. Touring the UK and Europe with the band, Stephen played many renowned venues and Blues festivals including Maryport Blues Festival, Dereham Blues Festival and the Scottish Guitar and Music Festival.

Stephen’s professional theatre and touring credits include: The 12 Tenors (South Korea, Germany, Luxembourg and Belgium); The Carpenters Experience (various venues across the UK); Jack And The Beanstalk (Adam Smith Theatre, Kirkcaldy) and Sleeping Beauty (Rhyl Pavilion, North Wales).

Stephen tailors his lessons for each individual student need, whether they are studying a particular syllabus (Trinity or Rock School), preparing for an exam, or for general learning/playing for enjoyment.

Stephen holds an enhanced DBS check.
