About Jordan Bassett

"With over 13,500,000 streams on Spotify, 100s of diverse shows under his belt, and a rhythmic palette worthy of resting
any evening upon – Jordan Bassett is a consummate professional, ready to help you take your drumming to the next
level".

Teaching has been at the core of what I do for my whole life, regardless of who is there to guide us at different stages of our journey with music - we are always teaching ourselves. This is why I believe it to be so fundamental to establish a practice that inspires self-discovery, discipline and consistent growth.

I have spent 10s of thousands of hours behind the kit, in solo practice, on sessions and OF COURSE - in the teaching room.

During this time I have coached over 200 individuals 1-on-1, catering to all different styles and levels of ability. I've also run a workshop or two, delivering drum clinics and my patented "rhythm-baths" to many. No, there was not a single gong in sight... maybe one day.

Beginners are truly welcome here, it is always an honour for me to ignite the drumming spark in the hearts of those who feel drawn to play. It's about finding balance. I provide a solid method for playing and self-practice that ensures playing becomes effortless and learning becomes efficient and enjoyable.

I also feed into the sessions opportunities for self-expression so we can make steady progress and keep to the point, it's about music. Practice is key, but music is something else entirely and we are always working towards this - becoming more able to express musically in a way that is effortless and flowing, so we can carry ourselves to the very edges of our possibilities and potential.

I always work with what inspires the student, the fuel to play and to improve is already within you! It's up to me to help you direct that energy so that you see the results you want, and in record time!

We can use the Trinity/ Rockschool syllabus as a framework for development, or go off-road if this is more inspiring. Either way, fundamental techniques, solid practice methodology and playing with music will feature heavily as key themes.

I love to teach intermediates, and aspiring professionals. Those of you who are looking for a coach, someone to take you on to that next level I am here for you. I am well-versed in many styles, I have a solid foundation for technique that enables the ceiling for attainment to be raised significantly. I have my own methodology for learning, for practicing and for honouring the fundamentals so that you can be sure that in any situation, improvised or recited, you have the tools available to be receptive and adaptable. You want gigs? Let's go. You want recording sessions? Let's go. You want to play for fun and love the challenge? Let's go. I am an avid improviser, this I can teach you too.

Time, Motion, Dynamics. Foundation. We fly with our feet on the ground.

I would say I am at home as a player in improvisation, it is here we can blend together our complete rhythmic palette. I personally find myself often playing a sort of hybridised-jazz/drum and bass - beat vocabulary mixed in with some serious high tempos, phrasing and development on themes/ inner melodies.

I love Afrobeat, Afrocuban, Reggae, Funk, Soul, Jazz, DnB, Rock, Pop, Neo-Soul etc... and I find these things all blend together in an exciting soup, depending on what the customer (the music) is ordering... We keep it spicy as much as we can.

Honour the groove, lead with rhythmical intention and listen to the surroundings.
Good time, fluid motion, and solid dynamic balance.
That's a recipe for successful improvisation!

Professionals and lovers of music alike, if you find that you are wanting to develop your rhythm, find direction in your sound, establish a more solid core practice for yourself, embark on a journey of inner growth and discovery - this I can provide support for also.

Lessons and mentoring is always tailored to the individual, so if there is anything you feel you'd like support with, or any type of musical experience you'd like to have - we can work together on that.

This could show up as a deep-dive into motion, where we combine mindfulness practices with effortless movement to generate a sense of calm in the system & reconnection to the experience of the musical moment.

This could show up, as developing a rhythmical language together!

This could show up, as blasting through as many Herbie Hancock tunes as we can manage!

We never really know until we get in the room together, or have that first phone call. So please do, get in touch and we can discuss your needs. I am open to all possibilities! I look forward to hearing from you.

Here’s what some of my students have had to say about me:

"I'm 49 years old and have been drumming for a couple of months. I have found Jordan to be a very likeable young man who is a very talented drummer. In his lessons I've found that he is very clear in his approach to the basics in drumming which is so important and he makes sure you fully understand before he moves on. He makes you feel really comfortable, which is important. I am thoroughly enjoying my lessons and always look forward to the next one. I would highly recommend anyone wishing to take up drumming to use Jordan." Pete, 49

“I would highly recommend Jordan Bassett for drum lessons. He is a flexible, highly motivated teacher with a committed and dedicated approach to his teaching. My son has drum lessons with Jordan and he is truly inspirational. His passion for drumming is clear and this stands out throughout his lessons. He is organised and methodical, providing exceptional technical approaches to drumming." Michaela, mother of Albert, 12.
