Gareth is a drum kit player and percussionist with over 20 years of real world experience as a performer and 15 years experience as a teacher. He has played in rock bands and pop outfits, jazz ensembles and big bands through his years as a performer. He has also directed jazz groups and a big band in an educational format. He is currently touring and recording with Top 10 UK rock act Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes.

Gareth has experience teaching a very wide age and skill range, teaching an extensive range of techniques, musical styles and concepts with particular direct connection to their importance and relativity to real world musical situations - covering the application of skills in a modern recording environment, the particular skill set required for live performance at a high level, and everything in between for every level of skill and aspiration.

Gareth includes the use of relavent technology to enhance lessons, recording performances for analysis and supporting progress, covering programming skills, and looking at the integration of technology into an acoustic set up.

He also has extensive knowledge of all musical examination boards and their various graded syllabi - from the contemporary Rockschool and Trinity 'Rock & Pop' grades, through to the 'Classic' Trinity College grades, across all levels. He is proud to employ a solid knowledge of music theory and the ABRSM music theory grades to support learning at all stages, promoting a holistic approach to music and instrumental learning. 

Gareth is CRB/DBS checked and takes safeguarding issues very seriously. Through his years of work in schools with the Hertfordshire County Music Service, and in numerous other school environments, he is fully aware of his role and responsibilities regarding safeguarding. 

Gareth has himself studied music and performance skills to a high level, graduating from Drumtech in 2004 with a Degree in Popular Music Performance.
